Treatment Approaches
As a counselor I provide a nonjudgmental approach and work with you to build a trusting environment. My focus is to help you heal, feel empowered, and become aware of your inner strength.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I use EMDR to address trauma and help you process through your stuck thoughts and emotions and replace them with positivity. EMDR therapy is successful virtually or in person and can help you feel empowered in your journey of healing. I will walk alongside you in helping you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Women's Issues
In my counseling practice, I have found that many women have low self-confidence and are not able to communicate their needs and wants, thus not being able to have a voice. I help you realize that you have a voice and give you tools to be able to successfully communicate and manage your emotions and regulate effectively. I will help you feel empowered, gain a better knowledge of who you are and have better clarity on handling your emotions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
I work alongside you in helping you learn essential Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) tools, such as emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal relations. I believe that these tools will empower and strengthen you in your journey of mental and emotional wellness.
In Person or Telehealth
I offer therapy sessions in person on the world's softest sofa, or online via video.
Christian-Based Therapy
I work with many individuals using their faith principles combined with counseling tools to help them effectively maintain a balance in their mental health. I specialize in working with clients of Christian-based religions, including LDS, Catholic and others.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. I assist you identify, test the reality of, and correct dysfunctional beliefs underlying your thinking. I then help you modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments. CBT has been clinically proven to help clients in a relatively short amount of time with a wide range of disorders, including depression and anxiety.
